We must gather here to pay homage to what could be one of the most prosperous countries in the Caribbean. Haiti, in time, shall be in a position to bestow on the world a genuine and supreme gift - a more human face.

We, as a people, must assemble to pledge our commitment to that ideal; the hope of a giant bequeathed to our land by a region that has spawned men and women of overlooked outstanding qualities, leaders who have proved themselves in the most treacherous conditions. It has nurtured a tradition of uncompromising struggle unbroken from the days of Governmental corruption. Agents of a doomed regime shall no longer butcher us with a cold disregard for life. Poverty will no longer prevail while a leader sits well nourished.

Recent events speak of our resolve to preserve the ambitions of generating a better tomorrow; to keep alive the flame of patriotism, which burns in the hearts, and minds of the like of a divine Haitian state; to redeem the pledge to give a more human face to our society for years trampled upon by the jackboot of inhumanity.

In eulogies to the departed, the works of the living sometimes bear little relation to reality. We shall be grateful that our land had been rid of those who place themselves before the common good of the common people.

The rebels shall hold strong in our vision of democracy, an image that can readily withstand the test of time. Indeed we are courageous men who selflessly are willing to sacrifice our souls for what is right. By this testimony of those who understand out ideology we encourage you to relish in the fruits of our endeavors. Our victory acts as a purpose to inspire a change.

It shall be a time when the tide of Haiti's valiant struggles and our liberation, lapping at our own borders, should consolidate Haitian pride across this nation and ignite the determination of all those who have been oppressed to take their destiny into their own hands.

It is also the fate of new leadership to be misunderstood, for historians, academics; philosophers must project their goodness to insure Haiti’s triumph over greed and corruption. This is not evident in a country where the interpreters have a small pool of resources to publish views regarding the quest for dignity and nationhood.

We call upon a resurrection of Haitian consciousness articulated itself as "an attitude of mind, a way of life". In various forms and under various labels, before then and after, this attitude of mind and way of life have coursed through the veins of all the motive forces of struggle; it will spark the determination of leaders and the masses alike.

The driving thrust of Haitian consciousness is to forge pride and unity amongst all the oppressed, to foil the strategy of divide-and-rule, to engender pride amongst the mass of our people and confidence in our ability to overthrow our oppression.

We hope that by unveiling this revolution, redefining our government and declaring Haiti a democracy, we are making our own humble contribution to humanity.

Thank you!
