Follow-up on "SOCIALIZED MEDICINE.."

This all started when we allowed the Federal Government into the practice of medicine, '64 or '65 when "medicare" came into the picture. Whether medicare was good or bad is not the issue. But just like any government program or entitlement, once it's in place it becomes permanent and just like the British system, no politician would dare even give a hint that might suggest its abolition unless he wants to commit political suicide. Once in place it can only grow not only in its size, expense but also its power and from this power an ever expanding control over our very lives.

Every American should ask himself/herself this question though its answer is moot. What would have happened to our medical care system if the Federal Gov't never got into this, ie: Medicare? My sense is that as resourceful as the American people are, we would have taken control of it ourselves and perhaps instituted a much better, less intrusive and a less expensive system. We abdicated that control when the Federal Government got in. We are not prescient. If there is blame here we all are responsible.

: This makes me sick....what happened to Americans taking care of themselves....America is fast becoming the socialist wimp that the Europeans have been for some time....soon we will be whining like the French.
